    Multi-Function Support The multi-function capability of the Xgig 1000 enables users to leverage a single solution blade to perform several functions for dramatic capital expense savings. In addition to capturing and analyzing traffic, SAS blades support traffic Jammer and Generation capabilities accessible by toggling software switches. Users can manage these multi-function capabilities effortlessly through the Xgig 1000 12 Gbps Maestro GUI software that allows them to inject (jam) errors into live traffic. They can also generate arbitrary SAS (SSP,SMP,andSTP)at full line rates with three levels of control so they can perform comprehensive testing and analysis to expose, identify, locate, and resolve network impairments.

    JDSU continues its tradition of providing best-of-breed tools to assist storage equip- ment designers, testers, and manufacturers to develop and debug their products with the introduction of its latest tester, the Xgig® Generator. Part of the Xgig plat- form of design and test tools, the Generator connects to users’ systems and supports arbitrary creation of SAS protocol traffic at 1.5, 3.0, or 6.0 Gb/s, and SATA traffic at 1.5 and 3.0 Gb/s, allowing emulation of either SAS or SATA devices. The tool also includes support for the SAS sub-protocols, Serial SCSI Protocol (SSP), SATA Tunneling Protocol (STP) and SAS Management Protocol (SMP). For maximum usability, Generator’s user control is via either a Graphical User Interface (GUI) or an Application Programming Interface (API). With Generator, companies can accelerate bring-up, regression, and manufacturing testing—to name just a few possibilities.
